Professor Jason Arday: statement and support for students

You may be aware of the sad news regarding the passing of Professor Jason Arday. Jason was a Visiting Professor with London Metropolitan University’s Centre for Equity and Inclusion and contributed to our work on anti-racism, equity and inclusion.

London Met remains committed to supporting our community, and recognise that this news may be upsetting for members of our community. Please remember that support is available, and you do not have to manage difficult feelings on your own.

  • GP – Your GP can provide advice, support and treatment for both physical and mental health. To find out how to book an appointment or register with a GP, please see NHS GPs.
  • TalkCampus – A 24/7 anonymous online peer support platform where students can connect with others and access mental health and wellbeing resources.
  • Counselling Service – If you are finding things difficult and would like support, please contact the Counselling Service – a confidential, non-judgemental space to talk through personal, emotional, or mental health concerns with a qualified counsellor.

As part of the support we are offering, we will shortly share details for an online reflection space for students which will be hosted by our Centre for Equity and Inclusion. The session will provide an opportunity for students to reflect on Professor Arday’s life and contribution to equity & inclusion in UK higher education, discuss the impact of this news, and come together in a safe, inclusive and supportive space.
