    Wide range of topics and subject areas.

  • Art Full Text 
    Topics covered include animation, digital media, film and television, media and communications, visual and performing arts, and sound for media.

  • Business Source Complete
    Areas covered include branding, broadcasting, film industry, music industry, how companies use social media, market research, business and companies.

  • Communication and Mass Media Complete
    Areas covered include advertising, animation, broadcasting, digital media, journalism, film and television, media and communications, and sound for media.

  • Humanities International Complete
    Culture and cultural studies, including animation, digital media, film and television, media and communications, and music.

  • IEEE Xplore
    Good for all School of Computing and Digital Media subject areas. A mix of full-text and abstracts of journal and conference papers. Also includes IEEE standards.

  • JSTOR
    Wide range of topics and subject areas. The most recent articles were published 3-5 years ago.

  • Project Muse Humanities Collection
    Culture and cultural studies, including digital culture, film and television, the media, and music.

  • Sage Journals Online
    Topics covered include animation, digital media, film and television, journalism, media and communications, social sciences.

  • Science Direct
    Wide range of topics and subjects, including the media and related subjects, music technology and musical instruments.

  • Taylor and Francis Online Journals

  • Web of Science
    Major interdisciplinary resource. A collection of citation databases (not full-text) citing international scholarly literature world-wide.

  • Wiley Online Library
    Wide range of topics and subjects including animation, digital media, film and television, journalism, media and communications, music technology and musical instruments.
  • Lexis Library
    Newspaper articles - UK broadsheets and tabloids. 1980s-present day.  Once you’ve accessed this database, make sure you select News on the menu bar near the top of the screen.

  • Mintel
    Looks at consumer markets such as fashion, retailing and consumer trends, and music and concerts.

  • Music Ally
    Reports, analysis and news, including some statistics, in the music industry spanning the last 15 years. Topics covered include: technological change; marketing, promotion and campaigns; entrepreneurship; trends in music genres over time; and international trends.

  • Passport
    International market research on industry sectors including economic and country information.

  • Statista
    Data, graphs, charts and tables from over 18,000 sources, including figures on music streaming.
  • Arts on Film Archive
    Films on art. Includes examples of documentary film-making.

  • BFI Screenonline
    This is the single most extensive publicly available resource devoted to British film and television. **Video and audio material can only be viewed in the University.

  • BoB National: Box of Broadcasts
    Over a million television programmes and radio broadcasts, including feature films which have been broadcast on UK freeview and terrestrial channels.

  • British Library Sounds
    Selection of recordings from the British Library's sound archive.

  • Kanopy
    Stream films and documentaries on your computer or mobile device.
  • Bloomsbury Applied Visual Arts Core Collection
    This is a collection of e-books across visual arts disciplines, including fashion, film, animation, media, and marketing.

  • Bloomsbury Screen Studies: Filmmaking Collection
    Filmmaking on Screen Studies is a collection of over 100 practical e-books from Focal Press and Bloomsbury, covering key areas of filmmaking including production, screenwriting, cinematography, direction, and the business of film. Filmmaking is a sub-collection within Screen Studies. We do not have full access to the rest of the content on Screen Studies, but when you have run a search, you can filter your results to only the content to which we have full access.
