The Openspace is a series of online webinars designed by speaker and creative, Vanessa Maria Wilson, to support your wellbeing. It's a space where you can learn more about managing stress and anxiety, build up your confidence and self-esteem and work towards becoming your best possible self. Starting May 6th, they will run every Wednesday, 2-3pm.

Vanessa Maria Wilson

Vanessa Maria Wilson is a Speaker, DJ, Presenter, Producer and Former Mental Health Representative at the Bristol Students Union. While at Bristol University she successfully led campaigns and projects around student mental health as well as executively producing a documentary about black student’s well-being. Vanessa merges her work in media with activism, where she combines her love for music with her drive to explore topics such as identity, race and mental health. Having worked with the BBC, VICE, Notion, Channel 4, gal-dem, and Guap, Vanessa is dedicated to mental health advocacy in music, media and beyond.

 

Stress & Anxiety

The workshop offers an opportunity to learn more about what makes us stressed, to share experiences with others who find life stressful, and to discuss and try out practical approaches to reducing our levels of anxiety.

The session will cover:

  • Time management
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Organising assessment
  • Fitness & food wellbeing

Confidence & Self-esteem

These webinars will aim to help you identify gaps in your self-esteem/confidence and cover techniques and strategies for more confident thinking and behaviour. The sessions will also uncover simple techniques to develop self-awareness and self-acceptance.

This session will cover:

  • Sense of self & Identity
  • Finding your “what”
  • Understanding the causes of poor self-esteem
  • Building self-worth and reconnecting with your core strengths
  • Changing what you don’t like and bringing out the best in yourself
