Step 3 - Preparing for your studies

During the first week of university, you will attend Welcome Week. You will be introduced to the university and its services, your school, course and modules, as well as your course leader and other students.

This is your opportunity to meet your tutors and classmates, and get prepared to start your studies. You are expected to attend all sessions on your welcome timetable.

Your welcome timetable includes:

  • school welcome
  • course welcome
  • welcome from your student journey team
  • social events

You should check your welcome timetable a few days before you are due to start in case there have been any last-minute changes. You are expected to attend all sessions listed on your welcome timetable.

Don’t worry about getting lost, we have the Student Welcome Team on hand to make sure you find the right room at the right time.

Once you have completed pre-enrolment, you may access your welcome timetable, which has been designed to help you settle into life as a London Met student and introduce you to your course. Your welcome timetable will be available from 21 January.

Go to the My Enrolment tab in your Evision account and navigate to View my weekly and welcome timetable. You can also visit londonmet.ac.uk/timetable.

You will attend a School welcome, usually on the first day of your welcome timetable, where key academic staff within your School will welcome you to London Met. This session will introduce you to staff and students in your School.

To see when your School welcome is, please visit the School welcome page (available from 21 January)

International students must attend the international student induction, which will be on the afternoon of 31 January 2019. International students (those on a Tier 4 General visa) are required to attend. As attendees will be required to sign up for the event, an invitation will be sent closer to the time and will include exact time and location.

If you are a student on a Tier 4 General visa and have questions about your course or your welcome timetable please contact the International Advice team on adviceinternational@londonmet.ac.uk

The course welcome contains essential information to prepare you for your course, and explains what is expected of you as a London Met student.

The course welcome will:

  • introduce key teaching staff including your course leader
  • introduce you to the modules you will be studying, and important study tools you’ll use at London Met
  • introduce you to fellow students and give you an opportunity to get to know your future classmates
