Special Collections

Welcome to London Metropolitan University's Special Collections. These collections - which include the University Archive - constitute a valuable resource for research activity in a number of areas for students, staff and external visitors. They are 'special' as, in many cases, component materials are unique and, therefore, irreplaceable.

Staff and Students of the University are welcome to visit the Special Collections Reading Room (situated on the Second Floor of the Wash Houses) during opening hours and without an appointment. However, as much of the holdings of the Special Collections are not immediately accessible, we do require that, in cases where specific materials for study have been identified, visitors contact us in advance of their visit so that arrangements may be made for their retrieval, where necessary.

Admission for external visitors and SCONUL Access Scheme members is by appointment only. To enquire about an appointment please contact us via: specialcollections@londonmet.ac.uk.

NOTE: To protect the most vulnerable people in our community, we are encouraging all students, staff and visitors to take a lateral flow Covid test before coming onto campus and we are also asking everyone to consider wearing a mask once there. If you return a positive test for Covid, or if you have symptoms of a heavy cold, flu or Covid, our advice is that you should not travel to campus.
