Supporting students affected by war and conflict
We're proud to be a diverse and global community at London Met. Many of our students are international or dual nationals or have close ties to other countries. We understand that events such as war, conflict, civil unrest or natural disasters can be deeply distressing and may affect you during your studies.
If you're impacted, you're not alone. Support is available for all students. Please see below for the services you can access.
Counselling Support
We understand the emotional impact these events may have on members of our student community and our Counselling Service is equipped to provide support. Our Counselling Service is equipped with BACP accredited Counsellors who offer a confidential and empathetic safe space for students to access support.
To register for counselling, please email counselling.studentservices@londonmet.ac.uk
Talk Campus
Access mental health support any time of the day or night as a London Met student. TalkCampus is an app, providing instant peer support when you need someone to talk to. Talk anonymously with students around the world and get support 24 hours a day.
Sign-up to TalkCampus: you will need to use your student email which will unlock the app free of charge, you will then be asked to verify your email before posting.
Media coverage
We live in a complex world, and the news can often feel overwhelming. It can feel like every time you check your phone; there's another heartbreaking story or significant event unfolding.
Our partners at Talk Campus have produced a helpful 5 minute read with practical strategies for managing the impact of distressing news.
Respect for others
We ask everyone within our diverse and inclusive community to continue to come together to support each other, with compassion, understanding and empathy for others' pain. We will not tolerate discrimination, racism, abuse, incitement or harassment of any kind. If you experience or witness anything like this, please report it immediately through London Met's Report and Support platform.
Your course fees
If the impact of global conflict has resulted in difficulty accessing your money in which to pay your fees, it is important to seek support and guidance from our Income Collection team who will be able to discuss your finance options with you. Information on how to pay and contact details can be found through the link below:
Your course and academic work
If you need support regarding your studies, mitigating circumstances, or a change in your mode of study, please contact your School Office in the first instance. We realise that during difficult times it can be hard to concentrate on your studies so do reach out if you need help.
Travel guidance
Should you want or need to travel abroad, we strongly recommend checking government advice before travelling to or through zones of conflict. There is guidance on international travel on the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office website.
If you are a student on a student visa and you have any questions about travelling during term time, please contact the International Student Advice service on adviceinternational@londonmet.ac.uk. Our Advisers will provide confidential immigration advice in relation to your student visa and how to ensure you keep it safe while travelling home. Advisers can also help you find independent, registered immigration advisers who can help you with any questions you may have in relation to non-student related immigration.
