Who we are

The International Support team at London Metropolitan University aims to foster a holistic student journey by providing specialist and technical advice to staff, students and stakeholders in compliance with UKVI regulations and University wide policies. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that recognizes and celebrates diversity, promotes cross cultural engagement and prepares students to succeed academically, ready to contribute to a global society.

If you need to speak to a member of the team, please contact us by email and we will arrange a video or telephone call with you.

If we need to make any changes to our service, we will update you via this page. Together with all of our student services, we are here to support you.

We provide advice and guidance on immigration issues whether you're thinking about joining London Met, you're a current student or have recently graduated from the University. We can advise on issues including Student visas and Short Term Study visas, family and dependants and also the current rules on working during and after your studies.

All advice staff are fully trained and operate to the Office of the Immigration Service Commissioner (OISC) regulation level 2. In addition to immigration advice, our team offer welcome inductions to new international students, training for staff and arrange events for our international students throughout the year.

All advice provided under this service is completely free and confidential. We will not discuss your case with anyone, unless:

You can contact us via email, one-to-one sessions or through our regular workshops.

The advice service is regulated by the Immigration Services Commissioner.‌

The points-based immigration system and its ever-changing requirements mean that protecting and maintaining our license to sponsor international students under the sponsored Student route of the points-based immigration system is a priority for London Met. Our team has a wealth of experience in UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) procedures, guidance and audits and are on hand if you have any queries relating to sponsorship under the sponsored Student route. The team also works with internal departments on a consultancy basis regarding Skilled Worker visa sponsorship and other work routes.

The team works closely with other departments throughout the University on student experience, retention and monitoring requirements.

In order to meet sponsor monitoring duties, the team monitor your course and work placement attendance throughout the year, safeguarding the university’s engagement policy as well as ensuring we meet all requirements with regards to record keeping, enrolment and re-enrolment. The team also regularly assist students by processing intermission, visa extension and withdrawal requests.

The CAS team are responsible to assessing new applicants to the University for eligibility under the UK Visas and Immigration requirements for a Student visa. They will assess financial documents, ensure all academic documents are on file and meet minimum entry criteria. The team also works closely with colleagues in our Business Development areas to ensure a smooth transition for new starters. They take part in pre-arrival workshops and engage with students and their representatives in the run-up to arrival in the UK.
