WiFi Access

The University uses eduroam for its wireless network.  Eduroam provides a WiFi service to the university sector, allowing students to access WiFi at their home institution and when visiting other participating institutions, using their university logon credentials.

Login details

Your username is your London Met email address.  Your password is your University password.

  • Username format: abc0123@my.londonmet.ac.uk
  • Password: Your standard University password

If you are unable to connect to eduroam please contact the ICT Servicedesk.

Manual device configuration setting

If you need to configure your wireless device to use eduroam, please use the following:

  • SSID: eduroam
  • Security Type / Encryption: WPA2/AES (WPA/TKIP will work but its use is depreciated)
  • Network Authentication Method: PEAP
  • User Authentication: EAP-MSCHAPv2

Connect to eduroam at other institutions

London Met students can also connect to eduroam when visiting other participating institutions.

Terms and Conditions

To use the service it is a requirement that you agree to the terms outlined in the University's ICT Acceptable Use Policy and also the JANET Acceptable Use Policy.

Please note: The University's WiFi system is now run entirely on eduroam.  The metNet system was withdrawn at the end of 2016.

Login details

Students should use their email address as the username and their standard University password:

  • Username format: abc0123@my.londonmet.ac.uk
  • Password: Your standard University password

Staff should use their email address (in the format below - please note the inclusion of the word 'staff' after @) as the username and their standard University password:

  • Username format: username@staff.londonmet.ac.uk
  • Password: Your standard University password

Access to the WiFi network is available for guests throughout the University.  Access can be granted for either one or seven days.  Requests must be made to the ICT Servicedesk by permanent members of staff, who will act as the 'sponsor' for the guest.

Requesting guest access

  • Contact the ICT ServiceDesk to request guest access. 
  • Provide the guest's name, email address, date of visit and purpose of the visit.  Requests should be made as far in advance as possible. 
  • An access key and joining instructions will be sent directly to the guest by email.  If the guest's email address wasn't provided, you as a sponsor will be sent the access key which you will need to pass on to the guest.

If you are an event organiser, you can request access to the guest management system. This will allow you to quickly onboard guests in bulk which is especially useful for large events. Access keys can be sent directly to the guests.

  • Enter the access key to connect to the WiFi network

The telephone line is open 24/7, 365 days a year including weekends and public holidays.

Between 9am and 5pm Mondays to Fridays, the phones are answered by London Met IT staff.  An out-of-hours service is provided by NorMAN,  operated by University of Northumbria at Newcastle.
