WiFi Access

The University uses eduroam for its wireless network. Eduroam provides a WiFi service to the university sector, allowing students to access WiFi at their home institution and when visiting other participating institutions, using their university login credentials.

If you have been away from London Met's campuses for a long time, your London Met password may have changed. It is good security practice to change your password regularly, and when you do, any wireless devices that use your London Met password will also need to be updated so that they will reconnect to eduroam.

The easiest way to do this is to 'forget' the eduroam wireless network and add it again to your device using your new password.

Your username is your London Met email address. Your password is your University password.

  • Username format: abc0123@my.londonmet.ac.uk
  • Password: Your standard University password

If you are unable to connect to eduroam please raise a request in the IT Self Service Portal.

Full details of the eduroam service are available at the eduroam website.

Staff and students can access the University's free Wi-Fi network by connecting to eduroam. You'll only need to set this up once and you'll stay connected to the network around London Met and in thousands of participating locations in 70 countries worldwide.  Please refer to the following guide for further information Eduroam - WiFi Access Guidelines for Students and Staff

If you need to configure your wireless device to use eduroam, please use the following:

  • SSID: eduroam
  • Security Type / Encryption: WPA2/AES (WPA/TKIP will work but its use is depreciated)
  • Network Authentication Method: PEAP
  • User Authentication: EAP-MSCHAPv2

London Met students can also connect to eduroam when visiting other participating institutions.

  • More information can be found at JANET Roaming, along with details of an eduroam app for iPhone, iPad and Android devices that helps to find eduroam points and gives information about how to connect to the service.
  • A list of participating institutions can be found on the UK list.

Terms and Conditions

To use the service it is a requirement that you agree to the terms outlined in the University's ICT Acceptable Use Policy and also the JANET Acceptable Use Policy.
